Jessica Neafie

Jessica Neafie is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan). Dr Neafie studies issues related to China’s foreign policy in developing and emerging economies, as well as how middle-power states balance China’s rise and the shift to multipolarity, particularly in environmental politics. She is PI of a Young Researchers Grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (Kazakhstan), and Co-PI with the School of Mining and Geosciences on an interdisciplinary project related to energy and the environment on the Caspian Sea. She has published peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, including Post-Soviet Affairs, International Politics, Environmental Research Letters, Journal of Chinese Political Science, and Area Development and Policy, among others.
