What is Global China?
China has become a global power, and its rise has been witnessed worldwide. As China goes global, scholars, politicians, and journalists are puzzled by the diverse and vast manifestations of rising China. Is Global China a dense network of economic trade and investments, an outlook economists tend to adopt? Or should we look at Global China and its growing influence on global values, norms, politics, and culture? The speakers notice that while the concept of ‘Global China’ has some limitations and interestingly, countries like Australia or Italy are not characterized as ‘Global,’ the adoption of ‘Global China’ as an analytical framework and methodological approach allows for a first comprehensive examination of China’s multifaceted effects on the world. Watch the first-ever discussion on Global China with Professors Lauren Johnston, Tansen Sen, and Timothy Oakes. Moderated by Professor Maria Adele Carrai.
